JUI-F condemns KP government over security threat letter to Fazlur Rehman

JUI-F wants clarity before any alliance with PTI

ISLAMABAD: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has strongly condemned the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government over a letter highlighting a security threat to the party’s chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

JUI-F spokesperson Aslam Ghauri expressed deep concern over the KP government’s letter, calling it alarming and irresponsible. He urged the government to focus on its duties rather than spreading fear and panic among the public. Ghauri also suggested that the KP government’s anxiety has heightened following the successful peace jirga organized by JUI-F in Peshawar.

“The government must clarify what steps it has taken to ensure the safety of Maulana Fazlur Rehman. If it cannot fulfill its responsibilities, it should openly admit its failure. The workers of JUI-F are fully capable of protecting their leadership,” Ghauri asserted.

He further emphasized that any attempts to isolate the party or its leadership from the people would be met with strong resistance. Ghauri accused the government of creating unnecessary fear among the public by issuing such statements, particularly after political gatherings.

The spokesperson reiterated that it is the government’s constitutional duty to ensure the security of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, as well as all citizens. “Our commitment to peace and stability should not be misconstrued as weakness,” he said, demanding that the government provide concrete assurances regarding the safety of JUI-F’s leadership.
