ISLAMABAD: Senior Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader Hafiz Hamdullah has ruled out his party’s participation in any no-confidence motion against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, calling attempts to destabilize it “not part of [JUI’s] agenda.”
Speaking on a private TV channel, Hamdullah criticized the PTI-led KP government’s performance over the past 16 months as “zero,” but asserted that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s position remains secure as long as the “same page” (political alignment) persists. He dismissed PML-N leader Amir Muqam’s statements as his party’s personal stance, clarifying JUI’s non-involvement.
Hamdullah emphasized JUI’s historical commitment to democracy and opposed “unnecessary constitutional amendments.” On the opposition leader’s role, he argued it should go to the majority party, not JUI, due to its limited seats.
He also remarked that the current political climate is better than before, suggesting key leaders—Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, and Bilawal Bhutto—could collaborate if decision-makers desired.
