Kalam protest continues over authorities’ alleged interference in local forests, business

KALAM: Residents of Kalam continued their protest against the Bahrain Tehsil administration late into the night, blocking the main highway. This caused significant difficulties for tourists traveling through the area.

Protesters expressed several grievances. They accused the administration of interfering in local forests and business centers, and claimed their attempts to file official police reports (FIRs) were being refused. They also stated that local youth were being kept in detention without reason.

The protesters have clear demands: they want their ownership rights over forests and uninhabited land officially recognized. They are also demanding that the Assistant Commissioner of Bahrain apologize to the area’s elders.

Protest leaders declared that their demonstration will continue until all their demands are met.

In response, Assistant Commissioner Bahrain stated that the protesters’ concerns will be addressed soon. He confirmed that authorities are in touch with local elders and that negotiations to resolve the situation are currently being held through a traditional Jirga council.
