ISLAMABAD: Authorities have registered two cases against TikToker Kashif Zameer and a police officer. The charges stem from a viral video mocking the police uniform.
The FIRs include serious offenses under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and other laws.
The video shows a man in a police uniform standing near a stage. He holds a tray filled with bundles of cash for the TikToker.
Zameer grabs the money and throws it into the air over the crowd. Several people dance around him to the beat of Qawwali music.
The footage went viral and drew heavy criticism. Viewers said it mocked the dignity and integrity of the police force.
Police officials confirmed the act damaged the department’s reputation.
To dodge legal trouble, Zameer allegedly made a second video using artificial intelligence. The AI altered the uniform’s color to make the man look like a civilian.
Police have arrested the officer involved for bringing shame to the department.
Raids are underway to capture Zameer, who is still on the run.
Officials warned they will take strict action against anyone who disrespects state institutions for fame or online content.
