SRINAGAR: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC), as well as across Pakistan and around the world, are observing Kashmir Martyrs’ Day today to honour the martyrs of July 13, 1931, along with all others who have sacrificed their lives for the Kashmir cause.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a complete shutdown is being observed in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, accompanied by a march towards the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Naqashband Sahib in Srinagar, where 22 martyrs of the 1931 uprising are buried.
The observance call was issued by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and has been endorsed by pro-freedom leaders and organizations. In a statement from Srinagar, the APHC urged the people to actively participate in the strike and the march to send a powerful message to the global community—that Kashmiris are committed to a peaceful resolution of the dispute in accordance with UN resolutions and strongly reject all forms of Indian occupation.
