Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Babar Saleem Swati, has strongly condemned the Indian government’s unilateral and illegal actions of August 5, 2019, which revoked the special constitutional status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He called this act a blatant violation of international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions.
In his message on Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, the Speaker stated that this day marks a dark chapter in the history of Kashmir where Indian authorities intensified their military siege, clampdown on civil liberties, and systematic violations of fundamental human rights of the Kashmiri people.
He said that Pakistan will continue to support its Kashmiri brothers and sisters morally, politically, and diplomatically at every international forum. He urged the United Nations, global human rights organisations, and the international community to take notice of the ongoing oppression and play their role in ensuring the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
