Pakistan, operating on the defensive, had no choice but to retaliate: Ishaq Dar

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar stated that Pakistan is acting in self-defence and was left with no option but to respond to India’s recent military actions.

In an interview with Geo News, Dar criticised India for escalating tensions over the past three days, saying, “The circus India has staged will not be allowed to translate into regional dominance. The Pakistan Armed Forces and the government are united in ensuring this does not happen.”

He added that Pakistan’s latest military operation is a direct response to the attack on Nur Khan Air Base. “Our civil and military leadership made this decision with no alternative left. We’ve shown immense patience, but there’s a limit—especially when dealing with hypocrisy and double standards.”

Dar emphasised that the current response is proportionate and measured. “This is the minimum necessary action, and it will continue. We are ready for more if needed. Every move we’ve made is part of a justified response.”

Referring to the initial phase of the conflict, he said, “Even on day one, we stayed within our territory and targeted only those jets that violated our airspace—five of which were shot down. We had clear orders not to go on the offensive. Our actions have been purely defensive and retaliatory, and the world can see that.
