Khawaja Asif, the Defense Minister, has stated that the country is now facing the consequences of decisions made during the PTI government’s tenure.
Speaking on a private TV channel, he highlighted the ongoing war against terrorism and the sacrifices of security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Asif criticized the PTI government for its handling of the TTP (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan), claiming that the group was promised peaceful settlement in Pakistan but continued to receive support from Afghanistan and India. He accused the Afghan government of aiding the TTP through its silence and actions, including plans to relocate the group inside Afghanistan.

The Defense Minister also expressed disappointment with the provincial governments, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for not deploying adequate resources to combat terrorism. He praised Mohsin Naqvi for his efforts but criticized Balochistan’s public representatives for failing to fulfill their responsibilities, stating that the current crisis could have been avoided if they had acted effectively.
Asif emphasized that external support for terrorist elements in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has prolonged the conflict, and the situation remains a significant challenge for the country.
