ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has welcomed the recently brokered ceasefire in the Middle East, calling it a significant and constructive development for the region and the broader Muslim world.
Talking to media Speaking to the media, Khawaja Asif described the truce as “a ray of hope” amid ongoing tensions, adding that it demonstrates a shift toward diplomacy and rational engagement after weeks of heightened conflict. He emphasised that such measures are not only crucial for regional peace but also reflect the changing dynamics of resistance and resilience among Muslim-majority nations.
Praising Iran for its bold stance during the recent escalation, Asif remarked, “Iran has courageously and strategically stood up to a much stronger adversary. Despite facing immense pressure from global powers and military threats, Iran responded not with fear, but with calculated strength and resolve.”
He highlighted Iran’s ability to defend itself through well-coordinated and decisive actions, stating, “Their defence was not only timely but impressively aggressive. It demonstrated that Iran is capable of defending its sovereignty and interests in the face of significant external threats.”
He extended his appreciation to the Iranian leadership and its people, saying, “I pay tribute to the bravery and unity of the Iranian government and its citizens. Their resolve in the face of adversity is commendable and sets an example for other nations.”
Khawaja Asif further remarked that recent developments mark a period of dual success for the Islamic world. “We have witnessed two symbolic victories in recent times. Pakistan’s steadfast stance and stability in the face of Indian aggression is one. The other is Iran’s powerful response to Israeli hostilities,” he noted.
He described these outcomes as “twin triumphs” that reflect the strategic maturity of Muslim nations. “These are not just victories in the battlefield or in diplomatic terms—they represent a larger shift. The Islamic world is asserting its right to defend itself, to stand united, and to reject external dominance.”
He added that the ceasefire itself is proof that many of the justifications presented by Israel for its military actions did not hold up under international scrutiny. “This truce shows that Israel’s claims were baseless and unsustainable. The resistance they encountered forced them to the negotiating table,” Asif argued.
Calling for broader unity among Muslim nations, Asif stressed that this is a pivotal moment in history. “The Muslim Ummah must recognise the strength in solidarity. Recent events prove that when Muslim countries act with purpose and unity, they can effectively counter both military aggression and political coercion.”
He urged Muslim governments to work collectively to protect their sovereignty, preserve peace, and pursue economic and strategic self-reliance. “These victories should not just be celebrated—they should serve as a foundation for long-term cooperation and empowerment across the Islamic world,” he concluded.
