PESHAWAR: (PAKHTUN ENGLISH) Details of the personnel martyred in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government helicopter that crashed in the Pindiali area of Mohmand district have been revealed.
Five people, including two pilots, were on board the helicopter. Group Captain (retired) Aftab Iqbal and Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Shahid Sultan were among those martyred in the accident, while Flight Engineer Captain (retired) Saleem Iqbal, Crew Chief Havaldar (retired) Muhammad Jabbar and Technician Havaldar (retired) Mukhtiar Ali were also martyred in this tragic accident.
The helicopter was carrying relief supplies to rain and flood-affected areas in Bajaur district when it crashed in a mountainous area due to bad weather on the way.
Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, expressing deep sorrow over the incident, paid tribute to the martyrs and called them the real heroes of the nation. He said that the martyrs sacrificed their lives to help the people, and their services will be written in golden letters in history.

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s MI-17 helicopter crashed in Mohmand district during flood operations on Friday. The government authorities have confirmed the deaths of three helicopter crew members as a result of a helicopter crash.
According to a statement issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, contact has been lost with the provincial government helicopter Mi-17 carrying relief supplies to the Salarzai area of Bajaur.
He said that due to bad weather, contact could not be established with the helicopter after it entered the airspace of Mohmand district.
According to local sources, reports have been received of a helicopter crash in the mountainous area of the Sukai area of Pandial tehsil of Mohmand district.
Government officials have also confirmed the helicopter crash and said that three people have been martyred in the accident.
According to the administration, rescue teams have been immediately dispatched to the scene as soon as the information about the incident was received.
