PESHAWAR: On the directives of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur and in line with the vision of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, significant progress has been made towards promoting a clean, eco-friendly, and modern transport system in the province. Practical steps have been initiated for the E-Rickshaw project. In this regard, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Science & Information Technology, Dr. Shafqat Ayaz, held an important meeting with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar, his team, and the Director General of Science and Technology.
Dr. Shafqat Ayaz stated that the E-Rickshaw project will play a revolutionary role in reducing environmental pollution, modernising public transport, and providing employment opportunities to the youth. He emphasised that this project is a practical manifestation of PTI founder Imran Khan’s vision for promoting clean energy and sustainable development in the country.
During the meeting, UET presented various proposals regarding the E-Rickshaw’s design, battery system, charging infrastructure, and its local manufacturing. Dr. Shafqat Ayaz highlighted that the KP government aims to ensure the project is fully developed using local resources to minimise costs and boost the province’s engineering and technological capabilities.

He further said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, ongoing initiatives in the field of science and technology are a guarantee of the province’s progress and a better future for its youth. The E-Rickshaw will not only serve as an eco-friendly alternative for transport but will also become a source of livelihood for thousands of families.
In conclusion, Dr. Shafqat Ayaz expressed hope that practical work on the project would commence soon, making Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the first province in the country to introduce such a large-scale and comprehensive eco-friendly transport system.
