Kohat Commissioner, RPO Finalize Muharram Plan After Jirgas with Kurram Elders

KURRAM: Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Moatasim Billah Shah and Regional Police Officer (RPO) Kohat Abid Majeed Marwat visited Kurram district for a one-day trip to ensure peaceful Muharram 1447 AH celebrations. They held tribal jirgas with Shia elders in Upper Kurram and Sunni elders in Lower Kurram.

Deputy Commissioner Kurram Ashfaq Khan, District Police Officer (DPO) Malik Habib Khan, assistant commissioners, and other officials also attended the meetings. Tribal elders promised full cooperation with the administration, supporting peace, inter-religious harmony, and action against troublemakers during Muharram.

Commissioner Kohat stated, “Muharram is not just for one sect, it belongs to all of us. We must work together to promote brotherhood, tolerance, and patience.” RPO Kohat added that police are fully alert and prepared to handle any emergencies.

Deputy Commissioner Ashfaq Khan praised the elders for their positive role and assured that the district administration would use all available resources to ensure a peaceful Muharram.
