Kohistan financial scandal: court denies bail, accused sent to Jail

PESHAWAR: Judge Muhammad Zafar of the Accountability Court heard the bail applications of two accused, Fazal Rahim and Muhammad Riaz, who were arrested in connection with the Kohistan financial scandal. After reviewing the cases, the court dismissed both applications and ordered that the accused remain in jail.

According to the prosecution, Fazal Rahim was employed as a cashier at a private bank, while Muhammad Riaz is a contractor and the owner of a private construction company. The two are alleged to have conspired to withdraw crores of rupees from the government treasury illegally. Evidence of their illicit movable and immovable assets was also presented in court.

After considering all the arguments, the judge rejected the bail applications and instructed that the accused be kept in custody.
