PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has unveiled a Rs 1 billion project to restore Peshawar’s historic landmarks and enhance its appeal as a tourist destination.
The initiative includes modern lighting systems, restoration of heritage buildings, and expansion of green spaces to improve urban aesthetics and public recreation. An initial allocation of Rs 100 million has been approved to kickstart the project in the upcoming fiscal year.
Officials said the upgrades will preserve cultural heritage while modernizing the city’s infrastructure. Improved lighting has already brightened nighttime visibility, while new parks are providing residents with better leisure spaces.
The restoration of monuments aims to revive Peshawar’s historical charm and attract more visitors. The government describes the plan as a key step toward making the city safer, greener, and more tourist-friendly.
