PESHAWAR:Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur on Sunday outlined his government’s one-year performance, claiming significant financial improvements without imposing new taxes.
Gandapur said the province inherited a treasury with only 15 days of salary funds and Rs. 752 billion in debt. Over the past year, the government presented a surplus budget of Rs. 169 billion, increased provincial revenues by Rs. 55 billion, cleared Rs. 72 billion in pending payments, and repaid Rs. 50 billion in debt. A Debt Management Fund was established with Rs. 30 billion, set to rise to Rs. 50 billion by year-end.
The government prioritized development, allocating Rs. 30 billion for projects and launching an Rs. 18 billion transmission line to boost industrial growth. A Rs. 20 billion Ramazan support package was announced, while scholarships, zakat payments, and dowry assistance were increased.
Gandapur emphasized improved governance and plugging financial leaks for revenue growth. He also addressed incomplete projects, vowing to complete them this fiscal year.

On security, he advocated for dialogue with Afghanistan and praised KP police, warning against undue criticism. He reiterated demands for KP’s share in the NFC Award and arrears, including net hydel profits and development funds for merged districts.
Regarding Afghan refugees, Gandapur called for respectful repatriation in line with Pashtun traditions.
