KP anti-corruption arrests two officials in wheat embezzlement scandal

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa anti-corruption department on Wednesday arrested two officials of the KP food authority in an alleged wheat embezzlement case.

According to sources, a major corruption scandal had surfaced in Nowshehra, and a case was lodged against the five officials for their alleged involvement in the wheat embezzlement.

Sources said that two officials have been arrested after a thorough investigation by the anti-corruption department.

Sources said that 1700 metric tons of wheat had gone missing from the government wheat godown in Nowshera, and 3,309 empty sacks had also disappeared from it.

Sources said it was a Loss of Rs197.7 million due to wheat theft in Azakhel Nowshera godown.

The case was registered against the storage and enforcement officer NRC, the assistant food controller and three food inspectors.

Anti-Corruption has arrested two accused, and the inquiry into wheat theft has been completed.
