PESHAWAR: The Anti-Corruption Establishment Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has exposed massive embezzlement and irregularities in the Employees Social Security Institution (ESSI), resulting in a loss of Rs 92 million to the national treasury.

A detailed inquiry confirmed complaints of misappropriation in ESSI, a subsidiary of the Labour Department. It was found that daily wage employees were hired through ESSI across various departments without the mandatory 6% deduction from service providers meant for employee welfare.

An FIR has been registered under sections 406, 409, 419, and 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Senior ESSI officers and private company executives have been booked, with several arrests already made. Anti-Corruption officials confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend more suspects involved in the case.
