PESHAWAR: A high-level session of the Provincial Apex Committee was convened in Peshawar under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to review the province’s security situation, particularly in the former tribal districts.
The meeting was attended by the Advisor on Information, Corps Commander Peshawar, Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, and senior civil and military officials. Members of the National and Provincial Assemblies from Bajaur, Khyber, and North Waziristan were also present.
Security officials provided detailed briefings on the prevailing threats, intelligence reports, and operational updates. The committee paid tribute to the civilians, police officers, and security personnel who lost their lives in recent acts of terrorism, acknowledging their sacrifices in the fight against militancy.
Reiterating their strong commitment to eradicating terrorism, the committee agreed on comprehensive steps to rebuild public confidence in the state’s security operations. It emphasized the need for greater coordination among civil institutions, police, security agencies, and intelligence bodies to enhance the effectiveness of counter-terrorism efforts.
Declaring terrorism as a mutual enemy of the state and the public, the committee stressed that defeating it requires a united national front. “Terrorists are the common enemy of all, and the entire nation stands together to eliminate them once and for all,” the committee concluded.
