PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly took an important step by passing the Teachers, Lecturers, Doctors Appointment, Deputation Posting, and Transfer Regulatory Amendment Bill, 2025, with a majority vote on Monday.

Presented by Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam, this bill aims to streamline the processes for appointing, posting, and transferring teachers, lecturers, and doctors across the province. The government believes that these changes can bring greater transparency and enhance the functioning of the public sector workforce, particularly in the education and healthcare sectors.

However, some opposition members voiced concerns about particular provisions in the bill, emphasising the need for strong safeguards against potential political interference. In response, those in the ruling party defended the bill, highlighting its importance for meaningful administrative reform.

After a brief discussion, the assembly voted on the bill, which ultimately passed with a significant majority.
