PESHAWAR: To play a key role in policy formulation for multi-storey buildings and ensuring implementation of construction standards, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet has approved the establishment of the Building Control Authority in the province and will soon appoint staff members under the supervision of the Director General and related staff.
The 32nd meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet is being held today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur at the Civil Secretariat Peshawar, for which a 39-point agenda has been issued. The meeting is likely to take decisions on various important issues of the province, including the establishment of the Building Control Authority, development initiatives in various districts and legislation.
The meeting is also expected to approve the establishment of the Board of Directors of the Small Industries Development Board, and the District Headquarters Hospital in Kolai Pals Kohistan district. Furthermore, the Legal Aid Amendment Act 2019 and the Prosecution Amendment Act 2025 are likely to be approved, which are designed to make the legal and judicial system in the province more effective.
The cabinet meeting also approved the purchase of official vehicles for the District and Sessions Judges for South Waziristan and Tank, payment of Rs 50 million to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Foundation for CPEC scholarships, and approval of seed money for the Higher Education Scholarship Fund were also approved. The meeting will also consider the approval of providing financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to people who have recovered from drug addiction, while a decision is expected regarding the future of the employees of the PPHI project in light of the Supreme Court order.
The meeting will also endorse the Chief Minister’s announcements on the occasion of the swearing-in of the new cabinet at the Peshawar Press Club. In addition, the approval of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Digital Payment and Fintech Strategy is also included in today’s agenda, which is expected to promote the digital financial system in the province.
