KP chief Khatib condemns Swat Madrassah incident, urges strict action against teacher

Chief Khatib of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Maulana Muhammad Tayyab Qureshi, has expressed profound grief and anger over the martyrdom of a student at a madrassa in Swat due to violence inflicted by a teacher. He has strongly condemned this incident.

In his statement, Maulana Tayyab Qureshi described the martyrdom of a student at the hands of a madrassa teacher as the height of barbarity. He emphasised that such individuals are not only enemies of humanity but also a stain on the esteemed name of madrasas.

He insisted that the teacher involved in this incident should face legal consequences to deter others from committing similar acts of brutality in the future.

The Chief Khatib appealed to the public to refrain from enrolling their children in unregistered madrasas, as these institutions lack a proper training system and supervision. He welcomed the Federation of Madrasas’ condemnation of this tragic event, stating that acts of brutality could not be tolerated under the guise of religious education.

Furthermore, he asserted that Islam does not permit the abuse of children; regardless of their profession, a teacher has no right to inflict harm. He urged that if a teacher is found guilty of such actions, the government should ensure justice is served. Maulana Tayyab Qureshi clarified that incidents like this damage the reputation of madrasas, and it is both a religious and moral duty to collectively voice opposition against them.
