KP chief secretary reviews polio drive, sees 168000 rise in vaccinations

PESHAWAR: Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Shahab Ali Shah chaired a high-level review meeting on the ongoing April anti-polio campaign, attended by health officials, commissioners, and district administrators via video link. The session highlighted a 168,159 increase in vaccinated children compared to February’s campaign, attributing progress to community engagement with local elders and strict monitoring.

Officials noted challenges in 276 high-risk Union Councils, with Shah directing deputy commissioners to prioritize micro-planning and evening review meetings. The final two campaign days focused on vaccinating missed children, with post-campaign follow-ups planned. Shah emphasized continuous improvement and data-driven strategies for future drives.
