LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari took a jab at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, saying his recent visit to Lahore should have been a source of inspiration after witnessing Punjab’s development.
Speaking at a press conference, Bokhari began by paying tribute to the 22 martyrs of Kashmir and acknowledged the continued struggle of the Kashmiri people for freedom. Shifting focus to domestic politics, she described CM Gandapur’s Lahore visit as a “study tour,” suggesting that the KP delegation must have observed Punjab’s clean roads, infrastructure, and progress while traveling on GT Road.
She said Gandapur experienced Punjab’s hospitality and expressed hope he would take back lessons in governance. “He must have seen the ‘Suthra Punjab’ teams at work. If he needs tips on cleaning up Peshawar, we’re happy to help,” she quipped.
Commenting on PTI’s newly announced protest movement, Bokhari said, “If Ali Amin Gandapur comes as a chief minister, he’s welcome. But if he comes armed, he won’t be allowed.” She cautioned against any attempts to stir unrest or damage property in Punjab, emphasizing that political opposition should not translate into chaos. “We don’t mind his visits as long as Punjab’s development is not undermined,” she added.
Referring to Gandapur’s repeated protest calls, Bokhari dubbed his current political strategy another version of PTI’s “90-day plan,” implying he is stalling to retain power. She accused the PTI of spending its years in office focused solely on political victimization and now seeking dialogue with the same institutions it once targeted.
She further claimed that former PTI chairman Imran Khan is attempting to secure a deal through backchannel communication. “PTI’s politics have damaged the country’s institutions and democratic culture,” Bokhari concluded, reiterating that political engagement should be rooted in dialogue, not destruction.
