PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur is taking practical steps to provide medical facilities to new-borns, babies and improve children’s nutrition by allocating more funds for them in the current financial year, spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s House said.
Initially, care units for new-borns are being established in 10 DHQ hospitals of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Modern new-born care units have been approved for premature and low-weight babies, the spokesperson of the Chief Minister added.
The spokesperson said that Modern medical equipment and trained staff are being deployed in each unit, and upon the success of the new-born units, their scope will be further expanded to the entire province.
Significant improvement in the health sector of mothers and children is expected from new-born units. The capacity to provide urgent medical care to malnourished children will increase, says the Prime Minister’s spokesperson.
The decision has been taken to keep in view the poor nutrition and low weight ratio of the children belonging to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as in most areas poor families could not afford the treatment, food and nutrition expenses of their children.
