PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to convene a parliamentary meeting of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers today, on Monday, to discuss the fallout from the Supreme Court’s verdict on reserved seats.
The meeting, scheduled at the Chief Minister’s House, will be attended by all PTI members, who have been directed by the CM to ensure their presence.
Party sources say Gandapur will consult legislators on the party’s strategy in response to the recent ruling, which has dealt a significant blow to PTI’s standing in national politics. The Supreme Court’s Constitutional Bench (CB) had overturned an earlier decision, denying reserved seats to the PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), and ordered their redistribution among other political parties.
Apart from political matters, the meeting will also address law and order concerns, especially in view of security arrangements for the upcoming month of Muharram.
The PTI leadership plans to use the session to formulate a unified response to both the legal setback and growing public safety responsibilities.
