PESHAWAR: The Provincial Quality Control Board (PQCB) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa resolved 96 cases during two consecutive days of meetings.
Secretary Health Shahidullah Khan chaired the meeting. Representatives from the Pakistan Chemist and Druggist Association (PCDA) and the Provincial Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) also attended the meeting.
The cases were reported under Section 11 of the Drug Act 1976 by drug inspectors from various districts including Peshawar, Charsadda, Haripur, Bannu, Mardan, Nowshera, Batagram, Dera Ismail Khan, Kohat, and Mansehra. Proceedings were conducted in the presence of the accused individuals, drug inspectors, and officials from the drug testing laboratory.
The meeting of PCDA ordered FIRs in 29 cases, 36 cases referred to drug courts, 18 cases sent to the National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad, for re-testing in the appellate laboratory. Seven individuals issued warnings, two cases were sent back for further investigation, and four cases were deferred for the next meeting.
Additionally, several medical outlets were sealed and their licenses revoked for selling fake and unregistered medicines.
Reiterating a zero-tolerance policy against counterfeit drugs, the board directed an awareness and enforcement campaign across the province.

PCDA and PPMA were tasked with launching awareness drives emphasizing the purchase of medicines only from authorized distributors, maintaining purchase receipts, and full compliance with pharmaceutical regulations.
