KP disaster funds misused? ANP questions flood preparedness failures

(ANP) provincial president Mian Iftikhar Hussain

PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) provincial president Mian Iftikhar Hussain launched a scathing attack on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, accusing it of mismanagement in the budget, university appointments, and the recent Swat flood tragedy.

Speaking on the Pakhtun Digital Podcast, Hussain called the provincial budget “manipulation and wordplay,” claiming the government had no real intention of presenting it. “First they refused to present it, then suddenly passed it with a bang. Now they’re just waiting for orders from their leadership,” he said.

He also raised corruption allegations in the appointment of vice-chancellors at KP universities. “We welcomed the appointments, but now there are reports of bribery,” he revealed.

On the Swat flood incident, Hussain demanded accountability: “If Section 144 was imposed and alerts were issued, why were no safety measures taken? The Disaster Management Authority has funds and staff—why weren’t they used?”
