KP faces major gastro outbreak: 19,000 affected in 14 Days

Gastro outbreak hits various K-P districts

PESHAWAR: There has been a worrying increase in stomach-related illnesses (gastro cases) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In the last 14 days, more than 19,000 cases have been reported.

According to the Health Department, 19,534 gastro cases were recorded in hospitals across the province between February 24 and March 2.

Out of 2,082 medical centers, 1,826 shared data on these cases. Peshawar city had the highest number of cases at 2,591, followed by Charsadda (1,913), Swat (1,369), Dera Ismail Khan (1,202), Nowshera (1,086), and Lower Dir (1,012).

Additionally, 8,367 cases of respiratory and chest diseases were reported, and 3,845 people were affected by illnesses spread by mosquitoes and flies.
