KP finance adviser slams federal govt for failing to attract foreign investment

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muzammil-Aslam bash fedral government over FDI

In a recent television appearance, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Finance Adviser Muzamil Aslam criticized the federal government, stating that Foreign Direct Investment  should have surged immediately after Pakistan secured the International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreement.

He expressed concern over the lack of investment, noting that this was the first time the IMF program did not lead to an influx of FDI, which he described as a worrying sign for Pakistan’s economy.

When questioned about rising unemployment in KP, Aslam defended the province’s economic performance, highlighting its reliance on tourism as a key driver of growth.

He revealed that KP had broken tourism records this year, attracting 26 million visitors, the highest in the country.

Additionally, he pointed to significant improvements in agricultural and mineral income, with KP achieving the highest wheat production in the nation despite a decline in other regions.

Aslam dismissed claims of high unemployment in KP, questioning the basis of such reports.

He argued that the province’s strong performance in tourism, agriculture, and mining sectors contradicts the federal government’s assertions about unemployment levels.
