KP flood death toll hits 313; More heavy Rain forecast

PESHAWAR: Provincial disaster authorities report 313 fatalities and 156 injuries due to recent floods and rains across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The casualties include 263 men, 29 women, and 21 children killed, with 123 men, 23 women, and 10 children injured.

Flooding partially damaged 97 homes and completely destroyed 62 others. Buner district remains hardest-hit, displacing 208 residents. Affected areas include Swat, Buner, Bajaur, Torghar, Mansehra, Shangla, and Battagram.

With heavy rains forecasted from August 17–19 and intermittent showers expected until August 21, PDMA has activated full emergency protocols. On the Chief Minister’s orders, relief funds have been released and all agencies directed to intensify response efforts.

Non-food aid has been distributed to affected districts, with food supplies en route. PDMA’s Emergency Operation Center (helpline 1700) remains operational, and tourists are urged to heed weather alerts. Highway restoration remains a top priority.
