PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to bring reforms in the 03-MPO law and make its implementation subject to the prior permission of the provincial home department.
This decision was taken in the 35th meeting of the provincial cabinet chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, which was attended by cabinet members and concerned administrative secretaries.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the 3 MPO law is an FCR-style law which is often misused, and this step of the government has been taken to prevent unnecessary misuse of this law.
Expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the province, Ali Amin Gandapur announced that convene an all-party conference next week. He said that representatives of all political parties will be invited to this conference so that a joint action plan can be formulated for the establishment of peace.
The Chief Minister said that peace has been restored in Kurram district with the efforts of the provincial government, and sustainable peace can be established in other areas with the consultation of jirgas and local elders.
Stressing the need for cooperation between all provinces to deal with natural disasters, he said that there should be no politics over natural disasters and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is always ready to help other provinces.
The meeting approved an assistance of Rs 05 million each for the families of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa citizens who were martyred as a result of Indian aggression. An assistance of Rs 10 million was also approved for the heirs of Maulana Khanzeb, who was martyred in a recent terrorist incident.
