KP governor says CM’s brother controls finance ministry’s bill approvals

Faisal Karim Kundi

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) governor, Faisal Karim Kundi, has alleged that the Chief Minister of KP, Ali Amin Gandapur’s brother, controlled the finance ministry’s bill approvals.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi visited the People’s Secretariat in Abbottabad, where he addressed PPP workers and distributed commendation certificates to those who participated in the May 26 protest in Peshawar.

During his speech, Kundi criticised the provincial government, alleging widespread corruption and mismanagement. He claimed that the Chief Minister’s statements about the province’s self-sufficiency were misleading, stating that corruption remains rampant.

Kundi also took aim at Maulana Fazlur Rehman, stating that it took him 14 years to recognise PTI as a corrupt party. He praised the role of Abbottabad workers and women in the province’s rescue campaign, calling their participation commendable.

Highlighting PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s diplomatic efforts, Kundi stated that Bilawal was successfully advocating Pakistan’s case on the international stage. He also thanked workers for their participation in the May 26 protest, emphasising that the PPP Abbottabad chapter secured the first position in the demonstration.

Kundi further criticised the provincial government’s financial mismanagement, alleging that Rs50 billion was looted in Kohistan and Rs 33 billion worth of solar power funds were misused. He accused officials of selling Class IV jobs and claimed that the Ministry of Finance does not approve bills without commissions.

Regarding the May 26 protest, Kundi demanded that an FIR be registered against the Chief Minister, who also serves as the Home Minister, for the alleged lathi charge on PPP workers. He reiterated that PPP workers are democratic people, distinguishing them from those involved in violent incidents on May 9.

Kundi also praised Pakistan’s armed forces, stating that their victory against India had made overseas Pakistanis proud. He expressed gratitude to friendly nations for their support and emphasised that Pakistan’s global recognition was growing.

On economic matters, Kundi criticised the tax on solar panels, calling it an injustice to the poor. He assured that PPP would fight for salary increases in the federal budget and work to reverse unjust taxation policies.

He concluded by reaffirming that the Governor’s House remains open to the public, stating that more people have visited in the past year than during previous tenures. He vowed that PPP’s protest movement would continue, ensuring that the voices of the people are heard at every forum.
