PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has written a letter to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur demanding that a session of the provincial assembly be called to administer oath to the members elected on reserved seats.

According to the details, the letter written by the governor states that on July 14, the Election Commission has also asked through a letter to convene an assembly session so that the oath of office of the members elected on reserved seats can be administered as per the decision of the Supreme Court’s Constitutional Bench.

The letter states that under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Rules of Business 1985, Schedule 5, Rule 36 (1), the Chief Minister will ask the Governor for an assembly session, therefore, an assembly session should be called immediately under Article 109A so that the decision of the Supreme Court is implemented.

It should be noted that Senate elections are being held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on July 21, but after the Supreme Court’s decision, the members elected to the reserved seats have not yet been sworn in. The Supreme Court’s constitutional bench had ruled against the PTI in the reserved seats case.
