KP govt announces Rs 2m for each flood victim’s family

The search and rescue operation to locate missing flood victims concluded, and a total of 41 dead bodies were recovered in the Gadoon Dalori area of Swabi which was severely affected by cloud-burst induced floods the other day. 

PESHAWAR :  The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) cabinet has announced a comprehensive financial aid package, headlined by a significant compensation for recent flood victims.

In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, the cabinet decided to provide Rs 2 million to the family of each person who died in the recent floods and Rs 500,000 for each injured individual.

To address immediate needs, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) will distribute Rs 15,000 to affected families through a “Food Stamp” scheme. To fund these relief efforts, the cabinet approved an initial release of Rs 1 billion to the PDMA.

Beyond flood relief, the meeting also approved substantial financial support for security forces. A sum of Rs 183 million was approved for the families of police martyrs and injured personnel, including a special package for those martyred in a recent helicopter crash.

In other decisions, the cabinet approved a grant of Rs 62.3 million for Seerat conferences across the province and Rs 20 million for the medical treatment of former MPA Shaukat Yousafzai.

For infrastructure and development, a large supplementary grant of Rs 20 billion was approved for various schemes and restoration work.

The meeting also concluded with policy approvals, granting the High Court exemption from the release policy and full access to the SAP system, and amending the KP Right to Public Service Act 2014 to improve service delivery.
