PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced mandatory salary deductions from public, semi-government, and private sector employees to raise funds for flood relief and rehabilitation, ARY News reported. The deductions will be implemented starting from the August 2025 payroll.

According to an official notification issued by the Finance Department, officers in Grade 17 and above will contribute the equivalent of two days’ basic salary, while employees from Grades 1 to 16 will donate one day’s pay.

The decision was approved in a recent provincial cabinet meeting that reviewed the devastation caused by monsoon rains and flash floods. Authorities emphasized the urgent need to mobilize resources to assist displaced families, particularly in severely hit districts such as Battagram, Bajaur, and Mansehra.

Funds collected through these deductions will be utilized to provide temporary shelter, food, medical care, and other essential services to flood-affected communities.

This provincial initiative complements the federal government’s relief efforts, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his cabinet also pledging to donate one month’s salary to support victims in K-P.

The Finance Department stressed that the measure reflects a collective commitment to accelerate recovery and ensure that affected families receive timely assistance.
