The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to beef up the security for Chinese engineers working at different development projects in the province amid recent Pakistan-India tensions.
After the recent Pakistan-India tension, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to further tighten the security of Chinese engineers working in various projects in the province.
In this regard, police and security personnel from other institutions have been deployed in all districts for the security of foreigners besides the Chinese.
The provincial government has issued instructions that a foolproof arrangement should be made for the security of foreigners.
According to sources, there are potential threats of attacks on Chinese nationals working at CPEC projects in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to evidence available with Pakhtun Digital, there have been reports of the formation of terrorists in Khyber District, located in Sangam, Peshawar, in the month of April, following which the security of the Chinese working on the Warsak Canal system in Malaguri, Khyber District has been further tightened.
It is reported that 10 Chinese nationals are working in this project, for whose security, 49 elite force personnel have been deployed under the supervision of a Superintendent Police officer.
Sources said 226 Chinese nationals are working on various projects in the Mohmand district of Peshawar Division. They have been provided with tight security, including the deployment of 129 additional police personnel.
Sources assert that 85 threat alerts have been received from the merged Mohmand district last month.

According to available evidence, 45 Chinese nationals are working in various projects in Nowshera district, including one from the Philippines, Poland and Kazakhstan, for whose protection a total of 737 security personnel have been deployed.
Sources say to facilitate the movement of Chinese nationals in Charsadda, an operation was carried out against encroachments on the routes through which Chinese nationals pass, and strict arrangements have also been made for their security.
In this regard, the Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, said that strict arrangements had been made for the security of foreigners.
During the meeting via video link, the IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued instructions to all RPOs and DPOs to further improve the security of foreigners working on the CPEC projects along with maintaining law and order in their respective premises.
