PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has informed the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission about the measures being taken in the province to deal with the effects of climate change.
The IMF mission was informed during a meeting and the mission was told that the KP government examines each project through the Climate Change Cell. The German government is providing funds for the Climate Change Cell.
KP government told the IMF mission the Climate Change Cell is being replaced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Now a Climate Action Board is being established to deal with the negative impacts on the environment. The meeting minutes say the IMF mission was also informed that the Climate Board will be the first board of its kind in the world and the legislative process for the board has been started.
It said the board would include officials from all departments related to the environment.
Government officials urged the IMF mission should continue its activities with the Planning Division and the provinces for 3 weeks.
The meeting of the IMF mission was hosted by the Planning Division. Representatives of the Planning Departments of all the provinces attended the meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to select projects and The purpose of the meeting was to provide awareness regarding the assessment of the impacts of climate change.
The Finance Advisor to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said in this regard that the KP government has informed the IMF mission about the measures taken regarding climate change.
