KP govt: decides to evacuate houses in Lower Kurram amid tension escalation

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, on Tuesday, in a high-level meeting, ng decided to address the situation in Kurram district by temporary evacuation in Lower Kurram.

During the meeting, it was decided to take strict action against those involved in the firing incident that occurred in Lower Kurram yesterday.

The meeting concluded that four villages in Lower Kurram—Ucheth, Mandori, Dad Kum, and Bagan—will be evacuated immediately to ensure the safety of residents and protect their lives and property from any harm.

Following the evacuations, search operations will be conducted to eliminate any terrorists present in the area. Additionally, the government has decided to place individuals involved in anti-state activities in Kurram on Schedule IV and to assign bounties for the capture of those implicated in these disturbances and their masterminds.

In light of yesterday’s incident, the distribution of relief funds in Kurram has been temporarily postponed. The government has also resolved to accelerate the demolition of bunkers in the area to reduce the presence of weapons.

Furthermore, the meeting determined that the campaign to demilitarize Kurram, in line with the peace agreement, would be implemented strictly. Peace committees will be instructed to fulfil their responsibilities to help establish lasting peace in Kurram.
