KP govt sent Pakistani mountaineers team to scale Trich Mir Peak

CHITRAL: To promote adventure tourism, a group of Pakistani mountaineers has been sent to scale the Trich Mir peak on the instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Tourism Advisor Zahid Chanzeb said that excellent arrangements have been made for the mountaineers, and famous Pakistani mountaineer Sarbaz is also included in the team among the mountaineers. The highest peak of the Hindu Kush mountain range, Trich Mir, is 7708 meters high and situated in the Chitral district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Talking to media persons, Director Tourism Omar Khan said that for the first time, the provincial government has provided an opportunity to Pakistani mountaineers, and two groups returned successfully after trekking to Trich Mir base camp.

He added that Chitral mountaineer Muhammad Shamsul Qamar is also among the mountaineers, and, upon the instructions of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a Helicopter rescue service will be available in Chitral to deal with any emergency. He said that Trich Mir peak was first climbed by Norwegian mountaineers in 1950.

Director of Tourism Omar Khan said that equipment has been purchased from Nepal and China for the climbers, and along with 6 climbers, local porters are also part of the team. He said that the provincial government is celebrating the year 2025-26 as the Year of Trich Mir.

He informed that the Celebrations of the 75th year of Trich Mir are being celebrated, and these celebrations will further promote tourism in Chitral. Trich Mir Summit is an initiative of the provincial government, and for the first time, adventure tourism is being promoted on a large scale by the provincial government.
