KP govt spent 37 billion on Sehat card program in previous financial year : Health Advisor Ehtesham

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has spent Rs 37 billion on Sehat card program in the last financial year while a huge amount of Rs 41 billion has been allocated for this welfare project for the ongoing financial year 2025-2026.

Talking to media persons Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Advisor Ehtesham Anwar said that this scheme is being implemented effectively across the province, and the public is being provided free treatment facilities in both government and private hospitals. He said that the Sehat Transplant and Implant Card has also been made a permanent part of the scheme, which has become a new hope for patients on their deathbeds.

According to the Health Advisor, 48 successful transplants and implants were performed under this expanded program in the last two months, on which a total of Rs 118 million was spent. At least 23 kidney transplants saved the lives of patients at a cost of about Rs 45 million while Rs 25 million were spent on four liver transplants.

Besides this Rs 45 million were spent on hearing devices, which restored the hearing of many children and brought happiness back to families. Ehtisham Anwar said that this facility guarantees that no citizen of the province is deprived of treatment due to financial difficulties, and basic health facilities could be provided to every needy person without discrimination.
