The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Friday suspended 10 officials of the finance department over their involvement in the Kohistan financial scandal.

After consecutive meetings of the Public Accounts Committee, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (PAC) and a huge recovery by NAB in the mega scandal, the suspension of officers involved in the Kohistan corruption scandal continues.

Sources say that after the accountant general’s office and the Communication and Works department, the Finance Department has also taken action against those involved in the scandal.

According to Finance Department sources, the suspended officers include one Grade 18, three Grade 17 and five Grade 16 officers. The Finance Department has also suspended a Scale 11 officer. Earlier, C&W had suspended 7 employees, and the Accountant General’s Office had suspended 2 employees in the Kohistan scandal. The number of suspended officials in the Kohistan corruption scandal has reached 19 so far.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Accounts Committee had directed strict action against those involved in the Kohistan corruption scandal. In the previous meeting, Speaker Babar Saleem Swati had ordered the AG Office to take action against more officers within three days, while Speaker Babar Saleem Swati had directed the Finance Department and CNW Department to take action against more officers within three days.

The Speaker had also directed to take action against the officers. During the meeting, the Speaker had said that all departments should identify all the people involved in this major financial scandal and take action against them, and the report should be presented in the next meeting.
