KP govt to launch ‘Taleem Card’ to enroll out-of-school children

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will launch the “Taleem Card” pilot program in the 2025-26 academic year. Under this initiative, 40,000 out-of-school children from nine districts will get school admission. Each student will receive Rs 1,000 per month for educational expenses.

Education Minister Faisal Khan Tarakai said eligibility will be based on the Poverty Score Card. The government has approved a Rs 3 billion Chief Minister’s Endowment Fund for this project. Arrangements are complete, and data collection will begin soon.

The program will cover Kohistan Lower, Kohistan Upper, Kolai Palas, Torghar, Lower Chitral, Upper Chitral, Tank, South Waziristan Upper, and South Waziristan Lower.

The government has set the student age limit at five years. Students must maintain 80% attendance to stay in the program.

Minister Tarakai stated that after a successful pilot run, the program will expand province-wide with more facilities. He called it a flagship project that will improve education and reflect the government’s commitment to learning.
