Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Minister Zahir Shah Toro has said that the state-of-the-art provincial food testing laboratory is being built under the auspices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority, has entered its final stages and will be formally inaugurated by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The provincial food minister expressed these views while chairing a high-level meeting on the progress of the laboratory project.
The meeting was attended by Director General Food Authority Wasif Saeed, Project Director Dr. Abbas, Director Operations Akhtar Nawaz, Director Technical Dr. Abdul Sattar Shah and other senior officers.
While briefing the meeting, it was informed that the civil work of the laboratory is nearing completion, while the procurement of modern high-tech machinery is also in the final stages.
This laboratory has been developed in accordance with international standards (ISO), where not only food business operators but also common citizens will be able to benefit from the facility of testing various food items.

Zahir Shah Toro said that the laboratory will be able to test the quality of oil and ghee, water, flour, biscuits, yogurt, dry milk, potato chips, salt, snacks, honey, jam, squash, beverages, salt, black and green tea, milk, meat and grains for protein, carbohydrates, moisture and other ingredients. The provincial minister said that for the first time in the history of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, after 12 mobile food testing laboratories, a static and modern laboratory is being established, which will prove to be a milestone in the field of food safety. This step will ensure the supply of quality food, eliminate adulteration and defective items and significantly reduce the burden on hospitals.
