PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Law Minister Aftab Alam has stated that there are currently no discussions in the province about abolishing the Action (in Aid of Civil Power) Act. He emphasized that any decision to amend or repeal the law rests solely with the Chief Minister.

Speaking to Pakhtun Digital, Alam also addressed recent Senate elections, warning that PTI will investigate and take action against any of its MPAs who voted for opposition candidates. While the party has 90 MPAs, including a few independents, he clarified that party discipline does not apply to non-affiliated members.

On judicial matters, the KP government has refused to establish a constitutional bench at the provincial level, criticizing the federal government for allegedly undermining judicial independence. Alam claimed that despite 26 constitutional amendments creating “unconstitutional benches,” KP resisted forming such structures and did not pass any supporting resolutions.

Regarding opposition threats of a no-confidence motion, the minister dismissed concerns, asserting that the KP government remains stable with strong unity among PTI members. He acknowledged minor internal differences but ruled out any risk to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s position.
