KASHGAR: A Pakistani delegation led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Advisor Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif visited the historic city of Kashgar after Xinjiang, where the delegation was warmly welcomed by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the local government.
As per media reports during the visit, the Pakistani delegation met with religious leaders and scholars of Kashgar, in which meaningful discussions were held on important topics such as religious harmony, interfaith tolerance and the elimination of extremism.
The delegation was briefed on the historical, cultural and commercial importance of Kashgar. The Pakistani delegation also visited the city’s famous five-hundred-year-old Eidgah Mosque, where the mosque’s administration provided detailed information on the mosque’s history, construction stages and current status.
Furthermore, the delegation was given a detailed briefing through models, videos and maps of the reconstruction, development projects and modern infrastructure carried out in Kashgar after the 2008 earthquake.
During the visit, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa delegation appreciated the social and welfare initiatives of the Chinese government, calling them “an exemplary example.” Barrister Saif said, “Kashgar not only holds an important place in Muslim history, but the pace of its development and revival is truly nothing short of a miracle.”
The delegation expressed the hope that such ties would prove to be an important milestone in promoting religious tolerance, cultural exchanges and peace between Pakistan and China.
