'KP no longer safe': says MPA Adnan

PESHAWAR: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazal) JUI-F’s member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly, Malik Adnan Khan on Monday said that the overall law and order situation in the province is tense besides Hazara Division, citizens have been taking to the streets in every district of the province to demand maintaining durable peace in the province, particularly in the south region.
The statement was made by the the lawmaker from the opposition benches in the KP, Assembly, Malik Adnan Khan during an exclusive interview with ‘Pakhtun Digital’ on Monday in Peshawar.
He said the prevailing situation was more worrying than they experienced in the past. “In the past, an incident of terrorism or unrest used to happen once a week. Whereas now such incidents are happening every other day,” He added.
He added that he even did not feel safe in Peshawar, whereas, due to the deteriorating law and order situation, people were being forced to leave the country.

Replying to a question, he said that it was the responsibility of the provincial government to maintain law and order in the merged districts after the 18th Amendment, and if they faced any difficulty in this regard, they could seek assistance from the federal government.
MPA said all the articles of the Constitution of Pakistan that talk about human rights have become practically inactive in the province.
Malik Adnan Khan further said that when they go to their constituency and native areas, threat alerts are issued by the administration to them rather than to ensure their safety. “If I have to protect myself, then why are the police and other law enforcement agencies there,” He raised the question.
