KP outsourcing 1500 govt schools “proof of failure”: Babak

Babak claimed that no one knows who is truly leading PTI or where its decisions originate

PESHAWAR: Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Minister Sardar Hussain Babak has raised serious concerns over the province’s growing number of out-of-school children, blaming government neglect and misplaced priorities.

Speaking on the Pakhtun Digital Podcast, Babak stated that education is not a government priority, citing its decision to outsource 1,500 state schools to private institutions as “proof of failure.”

He questioned the sustainability of the plan: “Where will the responsibilities of current teachers, education officers, secretariats, and district offices go? Who truly benefits from this system?”

Babak accused the government of lacking foresight about the decision’s consequences and undermining its own administrative capabilities. He stressed that education – a sector impacting entire communities – must not become a testing ground for experiments.

The former minister demanded clarity on the government’s long-term vision for education reform in KP.
