PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister’s Adviser on Information, Barrister Dr. Saif, has reaffirmed that health and education remain top priorities for the provincial government.
In a recent statement, Barrister Saif said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and in line with the vision of PTI founder Imran Khan, special emphasis is being placed on strengthening healthcare and education services across the province. He noted that more than 4.4 million people have benefitted from free treatment under the Sehat Card Plus program.
He added that the Sehat Card now covers high-cost, life-saving procedures such as kidney, liver, bone marrow, and cochlear implants. The health sector budget has been raised by 19%, from Rs. 232 billion to Rs. 276 billion, while the education budget has grown by 11%, increasing from Rs. 327 billion to Rs. 363 billion.
Barrister Saif also highlighted that 16,000 teachers were recruited last year, and Rs. 5 billion has been allocated this year for enrolling out-of-school children. Additionally, funding for public universities in the province has been significantly increased—from Rs. 3 billion to Rs. 10 billion.
