KP Rescue 1122 gets back vehicles confiscated during PTI protest

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Rescue 1122 got back vehicles confiscated during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest march towards Islamabad in October last year.

The Punjab police had arrested 41 personnel of KP’s Rescue 1122 and also took into possession 17 of its vehicles including six ambulances, seven fire trucks, three water bowsers, and one crane.

These vehicles were accompanying the procession of Imran Khan’s party from Peshawar to Islamabad.

The local court today ordered to return of ambulances to the KP relief département.

Director General Rescue 1122 Muhammad Ayaz Khan confirmed the court’s decision saying they will approach the High Court to recover the remaining machinery and vehicles.

“The court ordered the release of six ambulances today. We will file a case in the High Court to retrieve the rest,” he told to Pakhtun Digital.

Responding to the refusal of the one-step promotion of rescue workers who participated in the PTI protest, he said that they were not promoted because it would affect the seniority and promotion of other employees and officers.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister had announced promotions for officials who served during the sit-in. “We prepared a summary for their promotions, but the Establishment Department objected,” he stated. Officials argued that promotions would disrupt seniority and violate senior officers’ rights.

However, a new summary proposes a basic pay increment for them.

Instead of promotions, a new summary now proposes pay increments for them, he said.

Rescue 1122’s mission is to save lives, he stressed. “Rescue operations have no boundaries. Our personnel joined the rally to provide timely aid in case of accidents,” he said. He assured that Punjab Police’s detention of vehicles has not impacted their performance.
