PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Standing Committee on Health has directed the relevant quarters to complete all vacant posts of the doctors in various Hospitals of the Province and ensure availability of medical equipment in Timergara Medical College.
An important meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Standing Committee on Health was held in Peshawar under the chairmanship of Chairman Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani. The meeting was attended by MNAs Taj Muhammad, Sobia Shahid, Asma Alam, Shahla Bano Ijaz Muhammad, Zar Alam and senior officials of the health department. The main agenda of the committee was to receive a briefing on “Preparation of Rules and Regulations Required under the Law”, organised by the health department. The committee was informed that an NOC application has been sent to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission (KPPSC) for the recruitment of 600 vacant posts of doctors so that better health facilities can be provided to the people of the province.
The committee also discussed the shortage of medical equipment in Timagra Medical College and other various District Headquarters Hospitals of the Province and directed to ensure the availability of necessary equipment be ensured in all these medical institutions. The committee expressed concern over the quality of the existing medical equipment and the overall condition of the hospital and suggested steps for improvement. In addition, the issue of upgradation of Lady Health Workers (LHWs) was demanded to be raised again in the assembly while a detailed discussion was held on the regularisation of medical staff recruited in tribal districts under ADP schemes.
The committee was also given a detailed briefing on the important projects of the health department, including TB control and malaria prevention measures. On this occasion, the chairman of the committee, Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, said that providing quality medical facilities to the people is the top priority of the government, and all the concerned institutions are working together for this purpose. He directed the health department officials to resolve all pending issues on a priority basis.
